Fulham 1-1 Wolverhampton Wanderers: Cottagers pegged back at home but move off bottom
Fulham moved off the bottom of the Premier League table but will be frustrated they failed to claim a valuable Boxing Day home defeat of Wolves.Ryan Sessegnon came off the bench and appeared to have secured all three points for Fulham with a powerful strike, but Romain Saiss equalised for the visitors with less than five minutes remaining.Saiss was in the right place at the right time to equalise for Wolves5

Wolves have now lost just one of their previous five matches, while Fulham are without a win since they defeated Southampton last month in Claudio Ranieri’s first match as manager. The main talking points of the first half were penalty calls for both sides, with Wolves believing they should have been awarded a spot kick for a handball, before Fulham claimed the same offence against them as Andre Schurrle drove into the penalty area.Neither were given by the officials, meaning the clearest chances fell to the hosts and their impressive striker Aleksandar Mitrovic. After the break, Wolves’ own centre-forward, Raul Jimenez, threatened to break the deadlock, before Sessegnon capitalised on a loose ball in the penalty area to score the opener.Goal-line technology confirmed Sessegnon’s strike did cross the line despite it being cleared by the Wolves defence5

Fulham looked set to claim three points that would have aided them in their fight against relegation, but Saiss was on hand five minutes from full-time to pull Wolves level, finishing from close range after a superb ball was sent across the face of goal. But there was still time for further drama, with Mitrovic coming within inches of grabbing the latest of winners for the hosts. However, Conor Coady managed to get back in the nick of time and clear the Serbia forward’s low strike off the goal line, ensuring Wolves leave London with a point on Boxing Day.

Moment of the match

Coady’s injury time clearance ensured Wolves finished the match with a point.Mitrovic capitalised on some poor defending to poke the ball past Rui Patricio, and time seemed to slow as the ball rolled towards the corner of the Wolves goal. However, Coady sprinted as fast as he could back towards his goal, and he slid in to clear the ball milliseconds before it crossed the line.Coady’s clearance was of the highest quality5

Star man

Though Mitrovic ended the match without a goal to his name – largely due to Coady’s excellent clearance – he was a constant threat throughout. The Wolves defence found him a real handful, and he tested Rui Patricio in their goal on numerous occasions. One specific move – a brilliant turn in the area which allowed him to get a shot off – showed off the Serbia international’s remarkable talent.Mitrovic put in a superb performance that deserved a goal5
