Thank you for the supportive tweets, means the world to me. Taking one day at a time but it's getting better for me. Addiction is the most lonely of places and I've had three of the worst types over three decades. Never be afraid to talk, you're never alone— Paul Merson (@PaulMerse) March 14, 2019And Redknapp joined talkSPORT host Alan Brazil and David Seaman on Wednesdays Sports Breakfast to heap further praise on the Three Lions ace.David, you know as well as anyone, from all those years playing with him, what a great lad Merse is, said the gaffer. The lads did great with the time they spent talking to him and helping him out.Its a difficult one when you have demons like that. Gambling is difficult. We all love a bet, I know I do, but its all about keeping it in moderation, thats the key.Enjoy it, but dont let it ruin your life.
MERSON SEALS IT!! And didn't he deserve that! #HarrysFullEnglish pic.twitter.com/Aus5FZHS5Q— ITV (@ITV) March 19, 2019During the show, Merson missed the teams training camp in Spain over his relapse and was filmed meeting former journeyman striker Drewe Broughton, who also battled with addiction.Merson told him: “If I’m being honest, I’m struggling at the moment, really am, with the gambling.“I find it very difficult. I’m back to virtually where I was many years ago.“I’m just sort of like constantly gambling all the time and I don’t like myself. And it’s scary.“My life should be good. It should be good. It should be like, two lovely kids, a lovely wife and my life should be good.“And it’s literally going like that and I mean quickly and worryingly.“In the cab on the way here I broke down. I’ve had enough.”3
