Liverpool legend John Barnes has told talkSPORT no team will want to face the on fire Reds in the Champions League this season, saying they are on course to challenge for both the top domestic and European titles.The Merseysiders returned to the top of the Premier League table on Sunday with a 3-1 victory over Manchester United.3

The league shows you the best teams, the most consistent teams who are at the top of the league and at the moment were there.So the Champions League will be interesting, but theres still a long way to go with a lot of good teams in there.Liverpool are still unbeaten in the league after 17 games, with Sunday’s win leaving rivals United 19 points off the pace and 11 behind the top four.3

And Barnes was full of praise for the Reds’ performance as a lovely Sadio Mane finish and a late brace from Xherdan Shaqiri sealed their first victory over the Red Devils in nine league games.Liverpool were the better side from start to finish, the former England international added.Man United should have been dead and buried and when they equalised you would have thought it would have given them a bit of impetus. But in the second half Liverpool completely controlled the ball. It was a typical Liverpool performance, whether theyre playing Manchester United or one of the lesser teams, theyve been really impressive this season.Liverpool are on fire at the moment.
