And Cascarino, speaking on the Weekend Sports Breakfast, says fellow striker Olivier Giroud can be trusted more to have a bigger impact on games. He said: “One thing you cant do when youre at a big club challenging for the Premier League and Champions League is wait for a player to come good.“That’s the case with Morata. I think there have been moments when Ive thought thats the turning point for him (like against Crystal Palace), but now hes gone back to how he was before. You have to be playing to a certain level that is making the difference for your team to win more games if you dont the team will suffer.”He continued: “You can trust Giroud more not to have a really poor game, hell lead the line a lot better. You have to bring a Pedro or (Eden) Hazard into the game.

Giroud got the best out of Griezmann by the way he held the line, and (Kylian) Mbappe likewise.Chelsea are more suited to Giroud and it works better for the team.Cascarino believes the warning signs were there for all to see even before Morata even joined the Blues, adding that there are elements to the 26-year-old’s game which completely baffle him.He added: At his previous clubs hes had a history of being in and out of the team, thats what happened at Real Madrid.Doing okay at big clubs is not good enough. Ive been at big clubs and thats what happens. If you do okay, they wont keep you.Last season he had a number of one-on-ones and missed nearly every time. “Hes good in the air and hes quick enough on the turn but is that good enough? He does two things in his game that I was always taught as a centre forward never to do.One was always get in front of your defender, dont be standing behind him. He does that regularly youve got to lead the line and be a springboard for the attack. And the second one is lazily standing behind people the amount of times Ive seen him do that is ridiculous. The two things are like a contradiction, wheres he standing offside and then he has to get onside to be back in play – which is a really weird thing to do.”

Ajax vs. Tottenham Hotspur - Wednesday, May 8, 2019

Who knows what the future holds for Chelsea and manager Maurizio Sarri right now? A top three finish, a League Cup final, and a Europa League final would see some managers secure but their Italian gaffer finds his position uncertain, while their transfer ban (which currently still stands) is making things worse. Sarri is unlikely to last too long at Stamford Bridge given the way they churn through coaches so Allegri is likely to be on alert for a move to west London.
